RCL Junior Touch players playing with Belgium against England, France & other top nations
by Alessia Hancock, RCL Touch U15 Captain
Last month, two of our junior touch Luxembourg players, Alessia Hancock and Luis Fernando Garcia Jacinto, set their course to Nottingham on the 20th of July to participate in the Atlantic Cup in the Under 15 mixed Belgian team. Where they played a competitive international tournament against big nations such as England, France, Wales, Ireland, Scotland, Cayman Islands, China, South Africa and USA.
Day 1 (20th July) was a magnificent victory for Alessia and Luis against Cayman Islands beating them 13-3.
Day 2 (21st July) a challenge for them both losing Wales 3-9 and Ireland 1-12, however drawing with USA 8-8
Day 3 (22nd July) another very tricky two losses for Belgium 2-9 against France and 2-13 against England however they didn’t give up and won a wonderful 11 – 2 against China
The last day (23rd July) playing for 5th/6th place against USA, unfortunately they lost 4-8 to USA, taking their place of 6th out of 8 nations
Overall, they’ve had such a great opportunity and have had so much fun during this intense and competitive international tournament. Thanks to all the supporters of RCL and their cookie selling customers that made it possible for Alessia and Luis to raise money for their kit and to be able to have participated in the Atlantic Cup.
